Position Overview

Poyen School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated educator to serve as a 2nd Grade Teacher while also providing dyslexia services and targeted reading intervention for identified students. This position focuses on building strong foundational literacy skills while delivering research-based dyslexia intervention and monitoring student progress.

This is a long-term substitute position with the potential to transition into a contracted position for the 2026–2027 school year.

Work Schedule

  • 4-day school week: Tuesday–Friday

  • Hours: 7:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction for 2nd grade

  • Provide dyslexia services using approved programs and structured literacy practices

  • Maintain documentation, intervention plans, and progress monitoring data

  • Collaborate with school staff, intervention teams, and families

  • Foster a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment

Qualifications

  • Valid teaching license in Elementary Education

  • Dyslexia certification/endorsement or documented training (preferred)

  • Knowledge of structured literacy and evidence-based reading interventions

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required

Position Description

Poyen School District is seeking a motivated and dedicated Science Teacher to serve students in grades 7–12. The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction that supports student learning and achievement in a secondary science classroom.

Experience with EAST (Education Accelerated by Service and Technology) is preferred but not required. This position is ideal for educators who are collaborative, student-centered, and committed to fostering curiosity and critical thinking in science.

Job Requirments:

  • CDL with passenger endorsement but we will train
  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
  • Driver's License: You must possess a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Age: The minimum age requirement to become a school bus driver in Arkansas is 21 years old.
  • Driving Record: A clean driving record is essential, with no major traffic violations or DUI convictions.
  • Background Check: You must pass a background check, including a criminal history check and drug screening.
  • Training and Certification: Completion of a certified school bus driver training program is mandatory. This program covers topics such as student management, defensive driving, emergency procedures, and state laws and regulations.
